Sound Bath Add-On

Sound baths are an easy, relaxing way to add the benefits of sound healing to your session. These sound baths are pre-recorded and each have unique benefits and goals. For example, there is a session for improving sleep, one for energizing and more!  These healing soundscapes are recorded by Anne Lebans. There is an add-on fee that we collect for Anne. If you would like to add the sound bath experience to your session, please let us know and we can provide you with more info on each option for you to choose the one that resonates best for your needs.

Hot/Cool/Restore Cycle

(Thermal Hydrotherapy)

There are many benefits to spending time in the sauna. It’s an ancient practice that continues to stand the test of time. Pair a sauna bath with a float, massage, or both, for even more benefits! Your heart, circulation system, immune system and skin will thank you!

What is the Hot/Cool/Restore Cycle?

This cycle uses heat (from a sauna) and cooling off (from a cool, not cold, shower) to provide invigorating and therapeutic benefits, that help the stress melt away…

Research

The Mayo Clinic has summarized important research on sauna use and the many health benefits.

This article summarizes the benefits of consistent sauna use.

hot cool cycle diagram

We offer:

  • 30-min Boost Sessions
  • 60-min Deep sessions

(Please note that Members get a preferred rate for sauna time, ask us for all the details!).

How do you do the cycle?

The cycle is done in 3 steps. We book your Hot/Cool Cycle time slot for 30 or 60 minutes.

  1. Heat: We recommend that you spend about 5-15 minutes in the sauna. This will help your body to loosen up and tension to begin to melt away. Use your comfort level to gauge how long you remain in the sauna. (If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, it’s your body’s way of letting you know you’re done, please make your way out slowly and carefully).
  2. Cool Down: The next step is to cool off with a short shower in tepid to cool water for 10-15 seconds. Use your own preference for what temperature you make the water. Having a very cold shower when you are very warm from the sauna may feel great, but if you have a history of blood pressure issues or heart disease, cool down gradually with more tepid water.
You can repeat Steps 1 & 2 as many times as you’d like within your booked time slot. For most people this is 3 times for the BOOST session and 4-5 for the DEEP session, this will depend on your booked appointment time and on how long you stay in the sauna. Whether you do BOOST or DEEP sessions, always end with a cool shower.
  3. Restore: After you repeat Steps 1 & 2 as many times as you’d like, we highly recommend that you dedicate time for a restorative rest to maximize the benefits your body is experiencing from the Hot/Cool Cycle.

Some options for the restorative step are:

  • Book a Float. Make sure you book ahead to ensure you will have a time slot.
  • Book a Massage with one of our amazing Registered Massage Therapists. The sauna and Massage combo feels great!
  • Book a Float + Massage Combo and it includes a FREE 30 min sauna!
  • Spend some time in our relaxing lounge, drink some tea and do some deep breathing. (*Please note that the lounge is one person only, or a ‘bubbled companion’ only, at this time–please ask us ahead if time if it is available).
  • Attend a restorative yoga class. There are several in person and online classes available. Ask us for recommendations.
  • Meditate. There are many online or recorded guided mediations available. If you would like to meditate with us, please check our schedule ahead of time for Guided Meditation sessions. (*due to the current situation, we are not offering in person sessions at this time but hope to in the near future).
  • Have a nap or do the cycle in the evening before you head to bed for the night. Just be mindful that for some people the cycle makes them feel very energetic so check in with yourself and plan accordingly.

Cold Plunge

{Cold Water Immersion}

Cold water therapies have been practiced for centuries and the benefits have been documented more concretely in the last decade. Cold water therapy is when the body is immersed in cold or ice water to stimulate health benefits. Forms of cold therapy include ice baths, cold showers, cold water immersion, cold pools or cryo-chambers. At Surface Float we offer cold water immersion (also known as cold plunging) in a specialized tub.

A systematic review of 104 studies, by researchers from UiT The Arctic University of Norway and from the University Hospital of North Norway, found strong evidence that cold-water swims and therapies based on them offer significant physical and mental health benefits.

For these reasons and more, many people are taking up the practice and reaping the benefits!

Are you ready to take the plunge!?

Molecular Hydrogen Therapy

Molecular Hydrogen therapy offers a safe, natural, and effective approach to enhancing health and wellness. Its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and cardiovascular benefits, along with the versatility of administration methods such as inhalation and hydrogen-rich water, make it a promising addition to both preventive and therapeutic healthcare strategies.
How is Hydrogen Therapy administered at Surface Float?

We offer Hydrogen Inhalation and Hydrogen-Rich Water to our clients.

Inhalation of molecular hydrogen is one of the most effective ways to deliver hydrogen directly into the bloodstream, making it suitable for acute conditions or when rapid relief is needed. Hydrogen-rich water, on the other hand, offers a convenient and consistent method of daily hydrogen intake, enhancing overall health and well-being. Both methods are easy to use and can be seamlessly integrated into daily routines, providing flexibility for different lifestyle needs.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a practice of automatic body responses to finger pressure, on specific areas of the feet that correspond to all body parts, to help the body attain/maintain its ideal balance in physical and mental wellbeing.
